The Gentle Way

Judo

Throws, takedowns, and groundwork — the Olympic martial art that complements every grappler's game.

The Program

Master the art of throwing

Judo at KMA is taught by Stephen Kamphuis, who holds a 2nd Degree Judo black belt and was an Oceania Judo Champion before discovering BJJ. His deep understanding of both arts means you'll learn throws and takedowns that work in competition and on the street.

Classes cover the full Judo curriculum — throws (nage-waza), pins (osaekomi-waza), and submissions. Whether you're a BJJ practitioner looking to improve your takedown game or someone new to martial arts, our weekend sessions are open to all levels.

Judo and BJJ share deep roots, and cross-training between them is encouraged at KMA.
